Investing in residents is an investment in our future health.

Residency is a key component of graduate medical training, offering an in-depth exposure to medical practice. It can often lead to long hours matched with many responsibilities and absorbing many unexpected costs.

At INTEGRIS Health, we believe investing in our future physicians early in their careers provides a double investment in the future of our communities’ health as well. Which is why we strive to offer residents enrichment opportunities leading to immersive training that will certainly benefit us all in the future.

The Need

Our greatest ongoing need is for philanthropic funding to enable our residents to attend national conference (INSERT NAME) where they’ll be exposed to x, y, z leading them to become more proficient caregivers who are on the cutting-edge of medical discovery and embracing the latest science of emergency medicine.

Annual Goal: $10,000

Attendees: 10-14 residents & faculty

Meet our Residents

Our residents come from across the country to enhance and expand their professional knowledge, skills, and attitudes at ISMC’s Emergency Medicine Residency program. Our learning environment offers rigorous education and broad clinical, research and professional training. Upon completing their program, residents are ready for independent practice and are ready to serve as physician leaders in their community.

About INTEGRIS Southwest Medical Center’s Emergency Medicine Residency program

INTEGRIS Southwest Medical Center is one of the busiest emergency departments in the state of Oklahoma treating more than 80,000 patients per year, and our numbers just continue to grow. Along with its high volume and high acuity patient population, it is second-to-none in its academic endeavors. Annually, our residents present at multiple national conferences, participate in health changing quality improvement projects and are recognized as high performers on the in-training exam.

The residency department houses 22 acute care beds (including three resuscitation bays), six fast track beds and six observation beds.

I walked into my very first shift intern year when my chief resident grabbed me for an emergent thoracotomy tube. I hadn’t even put my bag down to get settled and I was already off doing my first procedure of residency. After successfully completing the procedure, I instantly knew I had made the right residency choice! I think it’s fair to say that all of us had defining moments during our residency at INTEGRIS Southwest Medical Center.  We knew that choosing ISMC was going to give us the best training.  I not only ask you to think back on your defining moments, and how you can help contribute to the education of future residents.  In an increasingly competitive environment for applicants, we need your help to continue providing the best residency training in the country!
