Heart of the Matter: A Vision for Advanced Cardiac Care in Oklahoma

Editor’s Note (2025): The INTEGRIS Health Heart Hospital officially opened in 2024 and is now delivering advanced cardiac care to patients across Oklahoma. The article below, originally published in October 2022, shares the vision and impact behind this transformational project.
A Heart Hospital Designed for Oklahomans
In 2024, INTEGRIS Health opened the doors of the INTEGRIS Health Heart Hospital at Baptist Medical Center — a state-of-the-art facility designed to centralize and elevate cardiac care in Oklahoma.
Previously, cardiology services were spread throughout the Baptist Medical Center campus. Now, with everything in one location — from doctor's offices and diagnostic labs to operating rooms and recovery suites — patients benefit from a more efficient and compassionate experience.
What Makes the New Heart Hospital Exceptional?
At over 209,000 square feet, the Heart Hospital was purpose-built with innovation, efficiency, and patient healing in mind. Features include:
Eight advanced Catheterization Labs, including dedicated spaces for electrophysiology and specialized procedures.
Four 950-square-foot cardiovascular operating rooms to accommodate full transplant teams and equipment.
Two intensive care units with 32 beds each, designed to improve workflow and care coordination.
Spacious 300-square-foot patient rooms, allowing families to remain present during critical recovery moments.
Each design decision puts patients — and their healing environment — at the center.
Innovation That Speeds Recovery
One of the most innovative additions is the dedicated radial day recovery lounge. By using a radial (wrist) approach for procedures like angioplasty or stent placement, patients often avoid overnight stays. This space allows them to recover comfortably with amenities like television and reading areas before heading home just hours after treatment.
Reaching Patients Across Oklahoma
Not every patient can travel to Oklahoma City for specialized heart care. That’s why the new Heart Hospital also serves as the hub for over 60 satellite heart clinics across the state.
Nearly half of INTEGRIS Health's cardiac patients live outside the OKC metro. The hospital’s statewide network ensures that every Oklahoman — no matter where they live — has access to expert cardiology care.
Philanthropy That Powers Possibility
This vision wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of donors. The INTEGRIS Health Foundation launched a $50 million campaign to support the Heart Hospital’s creation. Every contribution helps bring cutting-edge heart care closer to home.
“Revolutionary results start with philanthropy.”
Because of donor support, what once seemed aspirational is now a reality — one that will save lives, expand access, and transform cardiac care in Oklahoma for generations to come.
Help Shape the Future of Heart Care in Oklahoma
Every gift, large or small, helps us continue providing life-saving heart care statewide.
Your generosity keeps care going — even after patients leave the hospital.
