Heart of the Matter: A New Era for Cardiac Care in Oklahoma

INTEGRIS Health President and CEO, Timothy Pehrson, speaks at the ribbon cutting ceremony for the INTEGRIS Health Heart Hospital at Baptist Medical Center.

Heart disease remains the leading cause of death in Oklahoma, but a powerful step forward was taken this June with the opening of the new INTEGRIS Health Heart Hospital. Thanks to generous support from donors like you, this state-of-the-art facility is now transforming the way we care for hearts across the state.

Celebrating the Future of Heart Health

On June 4th, 2024, health care leaders, caregivers, community members and donors gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the official opening of the new INTEGRIS Health Heart Hospital. The six-story facility, located on the INTEGRIS Health Baptist Medical Center campus, is designed to centralize and enhance cardiac care for patients across Oklahoma.

This hospital will serve as a central hub for more than 60 heart hospital clinics statewide, giving patients in both metro and rural areas improved access to high-quality heart care. From diagnostics to transplants, this single location integrates services to provide seamless, expert-level cardiac treatment.

Honoring a Legacy: The Dr. Mel Clark Patient Access Fund

In a heartfelt tribute to one of INTEGRIS Health’s most beloved physicians, a new fund has been established to continue his mission. The Dr. Mel Clark Patient Access Fund was created this year by caregivers and community members to honor Dr. Mel Clark, a longtime interventional cardiologist and former president of INTEGRIS Health Cardiovascular Physicians.

Dr. Clark dedicated over 40 years to serving heart patients—particularly in rural and underserved communities. His passion for reaching those in financial need now lives on through this fund, which helps ensure more Oklahomans have access to the life-saving heart care they deserve.

With your support of the INTEGRIS Health Foundation, the Dr. Mel Clark Patient Access Fund will provide financial assistance for cardiac care, expanding access and saving lives for years to come.

Thank You for Making It Happen

This hospital is more than just a building—it’s a promise. A promise that every heartbeat matters. Your generosity made it possible. Thank you for giving Oklahoma patients a place to heal, thrive and receive the best heart care available.
